Dear Property Manager,
It has come to our attention that there has been a notable increase in the number of incidents where critical communications and utility lines have been inadvertently damaged during excavation. These incidents not only disrupt our communication services but also pose a significant risk to other vital utilities, potentially impacting your residents and regular operations within the community.
To be clear, hitting a buried utility line due to negligence or oversight is unacceptable and can result in physical harm and significant financial penalties, with the penalty increasing substantially when the damage is to hazardous materials lines, such as gas. It is imperative that you understand that failure to comply with the Call Before You Dig safety protocol is a critical step that must be completed prior to engaging in any excavation projects within your community, to avoid any unnecessary damages.
We urge you to take proactive steps to prevent such an incident at your property by reminding residents and vendors that it is their responsibility to contact 811, the national call-before-you-dig phone number, at least two business days prior to starting any excavation work, even for small home improvement projects such as landscaping or installing a fence.
As a proactive measure, we have created this informative flyer that can be printed and handed out to your residents and visitors from the gate guard. For additional resources, you can explore the 811 website, where you’ll find more information specific to your state, answers to many frequently asked questions, and so much more.
Given the seriousness of this matter, we have also communicated this information directly to residents, and have included this easily printable flyer for you that can be distributed by the gate guards as residents return home.
Download the flyer here.
We appreciate your attention to this matter, and thank you for being part of the Hotwire Communications community.
Sincerely,
Hotwire Communications
